Sydney post-punk outfit Solid Effort is releasing its second EP Echo Chambers of the Inner West, giving the honours of first play to Weirdo Wasteland. The group weaves a sonic tapestry made up of disparate threads of punk, post-punk and pysch, where cryptic lyrics and social critiques add texture and emotion adds colour.
Marville – the Brisbane/Meanjin-based guitar and drum tandem of Ash Kerley and and Doug Palmer – is exploding back into the limelight with a new single and an announcement of its second LP. ‘Thinking Sense’ is the latest cut from the record, a driving and pummelling aural assault that builds like a tempestuous storm. This is fitting, seeing as Marville’s album Terra Alpha will assuredly be a sonic maelstrom in its own right.
Prolific Geelong crew Ausmuteants have returned to deliver another sample of their crooked outsider rabble. The band has linked up with German outfit PUFF to release a joint 7”, one side containing Ausmuteants’ brand of whirling hyperactive irreverence, while the second offers a dose of PUFF’s cacophonous sound that is undeniably gripping. It’s a pleasure to give you a taste in the form of the track ‘Horny World’ by Ausmuteants.
Melbourne’s UBIK is releasing a new 7″ EP through Aarght Records. ‘The Fly’ is a slice of sci-fi inspired punk that imbues the horrifying prospect of technology placed in the wrong hands.
Part two of our premiere double header to kick off the year comes in the form of ‘No Fun’ by Rabid Dogs. This track is an anthem for anyone that abhors delayed gratification.
It’s a big thrill to be premiering the video for ‘Spring’, the newest single from Geelong’s The Living Eyes. The track comes from the band’s forthcoming album ‘Modern Living’, which will be out on Friday November 17 through ANTI FADE Records.
Weirdo Wasteland is stoked to premiere a new track from Melbourne punk trio Piss Factory. ‘The Day After The Night Before’ is the first glimpse of the band’s forthcoming EP, which features a collection of driving compositions that encapsulate the duality of life in Victoria’s capitol – equal parts romantic, delirious, and disenchanting.
