Melbourne/Naarm-based newcomers If So Why are making some early moves, slowly building up a catalogue of intimidating bone-crunching noise-punk thumpers. New single ‘Demagogue’ is a churning and foreboding slab of mulched-up apocalyptic sonic turbulence, a terrific example of when more is better.
Hard-hitting Melbourne/Naarm garage-punk crew The Backs are following up a couple of EPs with a new single – the first in a planned series coming out this year. ‘Godzilla 1954’ is a potent heater that shines a spotlight on the growing white nationalism movement in Australia and its undeniably destructive nature.

High-octane Melbourne hardcore outfit 2 Stroke dropped a new track in late July, one where the aggro four-piece grapples with the thought of a meaningless existence. ‘Crisis, Crisis’ is a forceful rebuking of modern living and the dissatisfying ache it produces.
