Even though Australia’s live-music scene has come to a halt in the wake of the coronavirus lockdowns, musicians haven’t remained idle. Melbourne/Naarm-based punk label Blow Blood Records has assembled a killer crop of musicians to contribute to A Long Time Alone – a new mixtape of tracks composed by members of Australia’s underground in isolation. The compilation dropped digitally this week, so we chatted with Blow Blood head honcho Christina Pap about the genesis of the release and how music can unite a socially-distanced community. Boasting a hearty dose of sonic savagery and ruinous punk chug, Future Suck gives ears a taste of a forthcoming cassette release with ‘Brat’. This demo track is short, sweet and to the point, which is the best way to introduce yourself when ears are being pulled in every direction.

In Review: BB AND THE BLIPS – DEMO (BLOW BLOOD RECORDS, 2018)

Another week, another killer demo from a rising Sydney band. BB and the Blips dropped a dynamo collection of tracks earlier in the ear, carrying progressive sentiments and anger with the force of a boulder to the chest. A strong statement piece from a group that I hope has plenty more where that came from.
