Listen: STRANGE BABES – ‘HOLIDAY’

Strange Babes are a strange outfit. They aren’t weird, they just kind of came out of nowhere to me, which is great because I love pleasant surprises. The Auckland, New Zealand outfit consists mainly of Jaden Parkes and Sam McCarthy as the principal song writing forces. The two relocated to the fabled golden roads of Los Angeles to further their craft and careers. The duo is receiving dividends already, as Strange Babes earned a support slot for The Naked and Famous on North American tour and also supported Broods when they came to LA.

This single, ‘Holiday’, is a great piece of dreamy song craft. It’s a slick blend of The Pains of Being Pure at Heart and Wild Nothing, with a splash of Twerps. This song isn’t going to blow your socks off, but it is a very comfortable composition from a group of consummate musicians. It’s a good song to sound track a getaway, an escape, a summer vacation.

The band are apparently working towards a full-length release but a video for ‘Holiday’ will be out imminently.
