A lot of people have been waiting for more Terrible Truths – myself included – and it’s finally here. The trio blew me away with ‘Don Juan’ a few years back and ‘False Hope’ gives me similar shivers.
It’s being released as part of the Bedroom Suck double-LP compilation which is already shaping up to be one of the best things released this year. ‘False Hope’ jumps into a solid bass groove backed ably by Joe Alexander’s work with the sticks. The taught guitar is a hallmark of post-punk bands like Terrible Truths and Mere Women – this track they sound better than ever. Rani Rose’s / Stacey Wilson’s (not sure who is taking the lead this time, my bad) vocals are a sharp as ever, cutting through the noise with razor clarity.
I can’t say much more other than this is a great track – I want more but I know I’ll have to play the waiting game for a bit longer. I’ll twiddle my thumbs knowing that the wait will be worth it.
