Initial Vision, the second EP from Brisbane’s Perfume Garden is astounding. The music points forward and back, drawing elements of previous eras of electronica into its dream world. It’s the soundtrack to utopia, if we were to ever reach it.

Initial Vision, the second EP from Brisbane’s Perfume Garden is astounding. This three track release is a revelation, and one that I feel compelled to force onto others. Errol Hoffman is the musician behind the PG name; according to the bio on the Second Empire page, he has played or produced with Make More, To the North, Rain Fell and Stress Waves.

As Perfume Garden, Hoffman manages to capture serenity and the energy of nature within his lush arrangements. Gentle rain, soothing breezes, smooth cloud formations; its aesthetic is peaceful and innocent. The music points forward and back, drawing elements of previous eras of electronica into its dream world. It’s the soundtrack to utopia, if we were to ever reach it.

Initial Vision is being released by Second Empire as a digital EP. While it is only a small selection of sound, whatever comes next is something I will be listening to immediately.
